Terms of service
Effective October 13, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Stego Ventures Inc. (“we”). They cover moviestar: the software and plugin, this website, and the services behind it (email updates, feedback, optional accounts, and hosted sharing when available). By using moviestar, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
The software is open source
The moviestar command-line tool and plugin are free to use under the Apache License 2.0. That license governs the code. Nothing here takes away rights it gives you. If these terms and the license disagree about the software, the license wins.
Your videos are yours
Local editing runs wherever you install moviestar. We do not receive those local videos or projects. If you choose hosted sharing when available, you upload a finished video for us to store and deliver. Your source files and editable project history stay where you edit. You keep ownership of your video and are responsible for having the rights to edit and share it.
You give us a limited, nonexclusive license to store, copy, display, stream, and let others download a hosted video only as needed to provide sharing, protect the service, and comply with law. This does not transfer ownership to us. The license ends when the video is deleted, subject to the limited backup and record retention described in our privacy policy.
Running moviestar
- You or your AI agent run moviestar on your own computer or in an environment another company provides. You are responsible for that environment, its costs, and that company's terms.
- An agent acts on your instructions and can make mistakes. Check the result before you publish or rely on it.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use moviestar.
- You must be at least 18 years old and affirm that age before publishing a hosted video.
Accounts
Accounts are optional. If you create one, give a real email address, keep your sign-in details private, and tell us if you think someone else has access. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Don't pick a handle that impersonates someone or uses a name you have no right to; we may reclaim handles that do. You can disconnect installations at any time and ask us to delete your account.
Hosted sharing
Hosted sharing is optional and may not yet be available. When it opens, the Free allowance is three stored videos, 1 GB total storage, and 500 MB per video. These use decimal units (1 GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes). We reject new uploads that exceed a limit and do not charge automatic overages. Removing a link does not free storage; deleting the stored video does.
A hosted link is unlisted but can be forwarded. Anyone holding it can watch and download the finished video without signing in. Sending a link to a named email address delivers it; it does not restrict access to that address. You can revoke a link to stop new playback and downloads, or delete the video to remove the hosted copy and all its links. Copies already downloaded cannot be recalled. Keep your own copy of anything important.
Hosted content must follow the hosted content rules below. If you ask us to delete your account, its hosted links stop working immediately and we remove hosted files and recoverable backups within 30 days, except records we must keep for legal, security, or abuse reasons as explained in our privacy policy.
Hosted content rules
These rules apply to videos and messages you send through moviestar's hosted sharing services when they become available. Local editing on your own computer is outside these hosted content rules. Do not upload, share, or use our services to distribute:
- Pornography or other sexually explicit material.
- Child sexual exploitation or abuse material.
- Nonconsensual intimate imagery, or content that exploits or endangers a person.
- Credible threats, targeted harassment, or material promoting violence.
- Material that infringes copyright, privacy, or other rights.
- Malware, phishing, scams, spam, or links used to deliver them.
- Anything unlawful where the service is provided or used.
Do not evade account, upload, storage, email, or traffic limits. Do not use another person's email address to send unwanted links or impersonate them. Paying for a plan, if one becomes available, does not exempt anyone from these rules.
Reporting and appeals
To report a video, email hello@jdilla.xyz with the watch URL, why you are reporting it, and any details needed to locate the problem. A report opens a review; it does not automatically remove a video. We may review the hosted file and related account or delivery records to investigate. Do not email us copies of potentially illegal imagery.
If you believe a video infringes your copyright, include the watch URL, the work you own, how we can contact you, and enough detail for us to assess the claim. We may ask for more information before acting.
At the first hosted-sharing launch, we review reports and abuse we discover; we do not routinely review every video before publication. We may temporarily disable a link while investigating, remove content, restrict uploads or email delivery, or suspend an account when needed to protect people or the service. We will tell the uploader when we hold or remove a video when it is safe and lawful to do so. A report alone is not a final finding that a rule was broken.
If you own a video that was held or removed and think we made a mistake, email hello@jdilla.xyz with the watch URL or video ID and the reason for your appeal. We will review the decision and explain the result. We may pause new hosted publication if reports exceed what we can review responsibly.
Fair use of our services
When you use this website and its services, don't:
- break the law or infringe anyone's rights;
- attack, overload, or probe the services, or get around their limits;
- sign up an email address that isn't yours; or
- send spam, malicious content, or other people's private information.
We may limit or block access that breaks these rules.
Feedback
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve moviestar without owing you anything. Please leave out confidential or personal details.
Our name and logo
The open-source license does not cover the moviestar name or logo. Our trademark policy explains how you may use them.
Other companies' tools
moviestar works alongside tools we don't control, such as your AI agent, package and model downloads, and video sites. Their terms apply to them, and we are not responsible for how they behave.
Changes and availability
The website and its services are free today. We may change, pause, or stop them. If we ever add paid features, we will show you the price and terms before you are charged.
No warranty
moviestar is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or fit for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything important.
Limit on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Stego Ventures Inc.is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total liability for any claim about moviestar is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$100. Some places don't allow these limits; where that is so, they apply only as far as the law permits.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections the law where you live says cannot be waived.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update this page and its effective date. If a change is significant, we will say so on the website before it takes effect. Using moviestar after a change means you accept the new terms.
